Aufgabe:

Your teacher has told you about the possibility of spending some time in England as an exchange student an au pair or as a volunteer. You are very interested but also a bit frighted by the idea. Your are uncertain whether it would really be right for you. Write an email to a friend about your different thoughts and doubts.

Mein Text:

Hey Anna,

how are you? I miss you so much. When do you come to Austria again? In this email I want to tell you my thoughts and doubts about the possibility of spending some time in England as an exchange student.

When my teacher said that, I was very interested in it, but I'm also a little uncertain by the idea. I'm not sure if this is really right for me.

This is a good way to experience a different culture and expand your knowledge. Furthermore, you develop new life skills, prep for college und improve yourself. Finally, you boost your job prospects and make lasting friendships.

I think about how the English school system is, more difficult or easier than in Austria, can I keep up with it and whether my English skills are sufficient to cope with everyday life there.

I also think about where I will live and what I do if I don't get along with the family.

Furthermore, I am thinking about how to keep in touch with my friends / family and how and with whom I can spend my holidays there.

I'm afraid that my English will be enough and that I will get homesick. Then I’m afraid that my money is not enough and that my host family doesn't like me.

I hope you help me with my decision and don't forget to write back to me.

Tja, ich weiß ja nicht, welche Zweifel dich plagen würden, aber ich nenne ein paar Stichpunkte zur Anregung:

Wie ist das englische Schulsystem, schwieriger oder leichter als in Deutschland, kann ich da mithalten?

Reichen meine Englischkenntnisse, um den Alltag dort zu bewältigen?

Wo werde ich wohnen? Was mache ich, wenn ich mit der Familie nicht klar komme? Ob es die Möglichkeit gibt, die Familie dann zu wechseln?

Wie halte ich den Kontakt hier zu meinen Freunden/Familie?

Wie und mit wem kann ich dort meine Ferien verbringen?

Muss man in England Schulgeld bezahlen? Gibt es an allen Schulen in England Uniformen?

die Rechtschreibung ist gut. Ich habe trotzdem einige Sachen verbessert, manche nur nach Gefühl.

I wonder if the English school system is easier or more difficult than Austria's and if I can keep up with it. Additionally, I worry if my English is good enough to get along in everyday life.
